Bluffton baseball, softball aim to 'Strike Out Cancer' on April 17
Bluffton University's baseball and softball teams will do their part to help "Strike Out Cancer" at their home games on Tuesday, April 17.
The softball team will host Anderson beginning at 3:30 p.m., while the first pitch of the baseball game against Defiance will be at 4:15 p.m. at Memorial Field.
As part of the American Cancer Society fundraiser, members of both Bluffton teams will wear special purple shirts, with a pink design, that will be auctioned. The university's Marbeck Center Board will sell the softball shirts after the game; because baseball players will wear their shirts during batting practice, those shirts will be sold in a silent auction during the baseball game.
Cookout food will be served from 5-7 p.m. on the lawn between the fields, and other activities will include a cornhole tournament hosted by Bluffton's Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
A moment of silence will be observed before each game in honor of those battling cancer and in memory of those who have succumbed to the disease.
