Maple Crest Senior Living Village, part of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio, MHCO, ranks ninth among over 500 assisted living facilities who participated in the State of Ohio's 2011 Long-term Care Resident Satisfaction Survey, according to Daren Lee, director of Maple Crest.

"We are very pleased with the ranking in this important survey," said Lee. "While many factors go into the survey, our high ranking is largely a result of the caring and dedicated staff at Maple Crest."

Maple Crest scored a 98.7%. Mennonite Memorial Home's assisted living, also part of MHCO, received a 94.1% satisfaction rating.

The average for all facilities participating in the survey was 92.3 percent, according to the Ohio Department of Aging and Office of the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman, who released the results.

Residents were asked to rate their satisfaction with the facility's environment, activities, administration, direct care/nursing assistants, laundry, meals and dining, social services, therapy, laundry and general satisfaction with the facility.

To a key question for residents to consider: "Would you recommend this facility to a family member or friend?" Maple Crest Senior Living Village received a score of 100% satisfaction on this question.

This was the third time the state has conducted a resident satisfaction survey of residential care facilities, better known as assisted living facilities. Ohio's survey is the only statewide assisted living consumer satisfaction survey in the nation.

Though results are not used in reimbursement formulas for residential care facilities, their availability on the Long-term Care Consumer Guide website helps the public make informed decisions.

In 2009 when the last satisfaction survey was completed, Maple Crest Senior Living Village was ranked 6thoverall in the State of Ohio.

The survey was conducted between September, 2011, and January, 2012, by Vital Research, LLC. Staff from Vital Research, Scripps Gerontology Center of Miami University and the Margaret Blenkner Research Institute of Benjamin Rose, Cleveland, trained interviewers, who met face-to-face with a sample of residents at each facility to fill out the survey, which was developed by Scripps and the Blenkner Institute.
