Benefit concert for Haitian orphanages Feb. 4
Ohio Northern University to host benefit concert for Haitian orphanages
Ohio Northern University will host a benefit concert for Haitian orphanages on Thursday, Feb. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the English Chapel.
The event is organized by Sarah Waters, visiting professor of music, Dennis Kratzer, professor of music, and Georgette Roby, a senior music performance major from Oak Harbor, Ohio.
The concert will include musical acts, a reading about the 1791 Haitian slave rebellion, and prayers. The ONU Men's Chorus and University Singers are scheduled to perform.
Donations will be accepted throughout the concert, and all money collected will go benefit orphanages in Haiti.
The benefit concert is close to Roby's heart because she was adopted as a baby from a Haitian orphanage.
"This came about as Georgette and I were talking about how college kids don't have money to send, but they still would like to do something meaningful. So we have asked them to donate their time and talent towards the cause," said Waters.
