M. Lucille Shank 1920-2010
M. Lucille Shank, 89 of Rawson, died 11 p.m. Feb, 1, 2010 at the Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora.
She was born February 26, 1920 in Hancock County to Ellis C. and Ada Mae Bowersox Roether. On April 13, 1941 she married Wade A. Shank and he preceded her in death on April 3, 2001.
Mrs. Shank was a homemaker. She was a graduate of Mt. Cory High School where she was class valedictorian.
Survivors include eight children, Patricia (Clint) Schmieg of Lambertville, Mich., Deryl (Jane) Shank of Rawson, Martha (Daniel) Amstutz of Pandora, Mary (Dean) Luginbill of Pandora, Arthur (Kathleen) Shank of Erlanger, Ky., Virginia Sommers of Pandora, Timothy (Patti) Shank of Pemberville, Elizabeth (Glenn) Ellis of Shelbyville, Ky.
Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, Peter (Alice) Schmieg, Adam (Jill) Schmieg, Allison (Ron) Schwab, Seth (Bethany) Amstutz, Amy (Adam) Zuercher, Emily Luginbill, Nathan (Brenda) Luginbill, Sarah (Paul) Ginther, Andrew (Megan) Shank, Stephen (Deanna) Shank, Laura (Paul) Sheppard, Anna (Frank) Bargo, Aaron (Kristen) Sommers, Jessica (Lance) King, Kristen (Darren) Lee, Justin Shank, Jason Shank, Justina Ellis, Meredith Ellis, Blake Ellis, five step grandchildren, Steve (Heather) Schmieg, Doug Schmieg, Christopher (Linda) Schmieg, Craig (Susan) Dukes, Brad (Debra) Dukes,
Also surviving are 16 great grandchildren, 12 step great grandchildren, a sister, Doris Jean (Kenneth) Cramer of Pandora and a sister-in-law Ruth Roether of Lutz, Fla. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Robert Sommers and a brother, Gerald Roether.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home, Bluffton. Pastor Aaron Sommers and Timothy Shank will officiate. Burial will be in Benton Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International.
