Richard Gillespie 1973-2012
Richard Alex Gillespie, 38, of San Antonio, Texas, died May 25, 2012, in San Antonio. He was born Sept. 20, 1973 in Bowling Green.
He was a nurse at Audie Murphy VA Center in San Antonio.
He was a member of the US Army 82nd Airborne Rangers, a graduate of Bluffton High School, The Ohio State University and the Florida Atlanta University.
He is survived by his father, Robert (Jean) Gillespie of Lima, his mother, Joyce L. (Greg Weaver) Vail of Mocksville, N.C., two brothers, Robert John (Michelle) Gillespie of Brentwood, Tenn., Adam Joseph (Andrea) Gillespie of Harrod, three stepbrothers, Dan (Arletta) Bradford of Cridersville, John (Nancy Schaub of Ottawa, Jeff (Laura) Schaub of Lima, an aunt, Sharon Gillespie, stepfather, John Goldsmith of Galion, nieces and nephews, Keegan, Grace, Kade and Silas Gillespie, Nick and Kaeley Schaub, John, Luke and Ben Schaub, Gabe, Summer and Kacey Schaub, cousins, Lindy Avery, Brett Eckhart and Brad (Rachel)Eckhart and best friend, Todd Fleharty.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, W. Robert and June Gillespie and John L "Tommy" and Eva Vail.
A memorial services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Bluffton. Rev. David Harris will officiate.
Bluffton American Legion Post 382 will conduct military rites. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
