Birthday card shower for Bonnie "Marie" Bourquin turning 100
A birthday card shower is planned for Bonnie "Marie" Bourquin, a Mennonite Memorial Home resident, Bluffton, who turns 100 on July 5.
The soon-to-be centenarian was born in Columbus Grove to Ray and Floyd Bogart. She grew up on a farm on Road 12 0, between Columbus Grove and Kalida.
On June 5, 1938, she married Gladwin Bourquin, who died in 2002.
She worked in Toledo and then Michigan. After marrying her husband, who was from Archbold, the couple eventually lived at 213 N. High St., Columbus Grove.
She was the secretary of Columbus Grove High School for several years. She was active in the Columbus Grove Mother's Club and was a member of the United Church of Christ. Other interests included gardening, especially roses.
She also worked at the Columbus Grove tomato cannery and downtown Columbus Grove dress shop. After retiring, the couple lived at 408 Taft St., Columbus Grove, until 2008.
Mrs. Bourquin is the mother of three children: Dave, Redlands, Calif.; Diane (Gene), Cincinnati; and Bill (Elfie) Bourquin, Yorba Linda, Calif. She has four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
