Often when you read a stat line and see that the home team outgained its opponent by 110 yards you will see a W for that home team. On this Friday night that was not the case as the Bluffton Pirates capitalized on eight Crestview penalties and three turnovers, which earned Bluffton its second win of the season.

Quarter Back Robbie Stratton opened up Bluffton’s first drive with a 14-yard scoring run to put the Pirates up 7-0.

The defense would get in the mix when Devin Luginbuhl tackled Crestview’s Seth Moster in the end zone for a safety.

Crestview would answer back with a three-yard TD run in the second quarter but Matt Deter would break the school record for a field goal with a 45-yard boot, setting the record a second time this season and putting Bluffton up 12-7.

After Crestview took the lead in the third on 10-yard pass Stratton answered back with a two-yard run just before the quarter ended to bring the score to 18-13 after three quarters of play.

Crestview would take back the lead in the fourth but Stratton would continue to run the ball as he scored on a 30-yard dash cap the game at 25-21.

Stratton completed three passes for 20 yards on the day and rushed for 79 yards and three touchdowns. Zach Wilson was second on the team in rushing with 74 yards.

The defense played a big game giving up less than 300 yards to a team that was averaging over 37 points per game heading into this game.

Bluffton is home next week against a very strong Ada (4-0) team.
