Mennonite historian topic of Feb. 26 colloquium
Bluffton University will present Assistant Professor of Communications Zachary Walton's colloquium "Enlarging the Vision: The Constitutive Rhetoric of Guy F. Hershberger" at 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26 in Stutzman Lecture Hall in Centennial Hall.
Walton's colloquium presentation will be a chapter of his dissertation. Walton is researching the rhetoric of Mennonite history and how the Mennonite community uses stories from their history to reinforce the values and notions of the present day Mennonite community.
The colloquium will focus more directly on the early 1940s-'50s in Mennonite history, and how the community used their historical stories to face the challenges and discrimination they faced in the wake of World War Two.
