Kid's Fun Nite and "Run for the Planet" on BFR October calendar
Several family-oriented programs are planned this month at BFR Sports and Fitness.
BFR will open the indoor track for the entire community in an effort to help break a Guinness Book Record for the number of individuals completing a 100-meter dash in a 24-hour-period.
National Geographic Magazine for Kids has issued a “Run for the Planet” challenge to communities across the United States to break this record between noon on Friday, Oct. 26, and noon on Saturday, Oct. 27.
Participants are welcome to stop by BFR anytime between 3-6 p.m. on Oct. 26. The 100 meter distance is just one lap around the BFR indoor track. To participate, individuals of all ages will be required to sign-in, wait for their heat to begin (approximately every 10 minutes), and complete the distance.
"Your help will be appreciated in meeting the Bluffton-area goal of 200 participants," Carole Enneking of BFR told The Icon.
The Fall Kids Fun Nite is Saturday, Oct. 27. The event will take place at BFR Sports and Fitness from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Featured activities will be the Outdoor Pumpkin Hunt, flashlight tag, dodgeball, plus mini-contests with basketball, footballs and hula hoops. Kids Fun Night is open to youth ages 5- 12 years of age; a maximum of 50 kids may register. Advance registration is required by Oct. 24 by calling 419-358-4150. Cost for the event is $20/$10BFR members, which covers all activity fees, plus pizza and drinks.
