E. Wayne Amstutz owned Amstutz Insurance Agency for 40 years
Retired Bluffton businessman, E. Wayne Amstutz, 90, of Bluffton died at 12:18 a.m. Oct. 26, 2012 at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.
Wayne and his twin brother, Dwaine, were born in Bluffton to Benjamin and Naomi Amstutz on Aug. 30, 1922. When he was 4 years old his mother died. In 1931 his father married Elma Diller. Wayne grew up on the family farm in Putnam County. On Feb. 16, 1947 he married Louise Wilch and she survives.
He had owned and operated Amstutz Insurance Agency, Bluffton, for 40 years. He was a member of English Lutheran Church, Bluffton. He was active in community activities, was an avid sports fan and played football, basketball and tennis his entire life. In 1943 he and his brother, Dwaine, joined the Army Air Corps during WWII, becoming fighter pilots. He was a 1941 graduate of Pandora High School.
Survivors also include two sons Mark (JacQuie) Amstutz of Eastham, Mass., Alan (Sue) Amstutz of Dublin; two daughters, Debra (Daniel) Butler of Sandpoint, Idaho, Patricia (Roger) Luginbuhl of Bluffton; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a brother Maynard (Mary) Amstutz of Nashville, Tenn.
A sister, Kathleen Kindle; two brothers, Dwaine Amstutz, and Harold Diller; his parents and stepmother preceded him in death.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at English Lutheran Church, Bluffton. Rev. Kevin Mohr officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.
