Bluffton University offering winter classes to retirees
Bluffton University’s Institute for Learning in Retirement (ILR), an educational program for retirees, is offering several classes led by local residents on Wednesdays, Jan. 23-Feb. 27, in the Kreider Room in Marbeck Center.
The winter term costs $60, which allows participants to take as many classes as they wish and to join in other ILR activities. The fee is due at the time of registration.
Gary and Lois Wetherill will share an “Eclectic Survey of Hobbies and Interests” from 10-11:30 a.m. each Wednesday, while Phil Sugden, an assistant professor of art at Bluffton, will discuss “Art as a Transformative Experience and a Vehicle for Human Development” from 1-2 p.m.
Guest speakers will address different topics each week from 2:15-3:45 p.m. Topics will be: the Ironman Triathlon, Jan. 23; living with Alzheimer’s, Jan. 30; King Ludwig II, the last king of Bavaria, Feb. 6; YouTube, Feb. 13; Seeing Green Hope in a Brown World, Feb. 20; and Lima’s Rally Point Youth Center, Feb. 27.
To register or for more information, contact Janet “J.P.” Schumacher, ILR director, at 419-358-3346 or [email protected].
