Jesse Henry performs Sunday evening in Town Hall Concert Series
Jesse Henry, former Bluffton resident, will perform in concert at 7 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 13, in the Town Hall Concert Series. Henry will perform with Angela Perley. The concert is billed as a homecoming concert of acoustic original music, raising money and collecting instruments to teach music in Nairobi, Kenya.
According to Wendy Chappell Dick of the Bluffton Cultural Affairs Committee, “Both play in bands and are regarded as two of the most talented songwriters in Columbus. The evening they will be joining together as a duo for an acoustic set of song. They are currently recording an album.”
“We have been enjoying our time together when we find an afternoon to sing and play,” says Henry, a 1996 graduate of Bluffton High School.
Henry has experienced critical acclaim and a massive fan following in the past years with his band the Spike Drivers, but he rarely performs in a small, unamplified venue like the town hall.
Henry is returning to Nairobi, Kenya, in February to continue his work to help build a music program at the Rafiki AIDS Orphanage and Farm.
At Bluffton’s performance he will give details of his past trips as well as explain what his plans are for the future of his involvement.
He has been collecting gently used instruments and money to provide the students with instruments, music and the necessities that allow them to study music.
He asks anyone who has instruments they are willing to donate to bring them to the performance and he will make sure that they get to students.
