Roger Diller was retired co-owner of Family True Value Hardware
Roger W. Diller, 79, of Bluffton, died at 9:10 p.m., Feb. 25, 2010, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. He was born March 3, 1930, to Earl and Alma (Luginbill) Diller in Richland Township, Allen County, Ohio. On July 5, 1949, he married Marjorie Gratz and she survives.
Mr. Diller was retired co-owner of Family True Value Hardware, Bluffton. He also had owned Diller Plumbing and Electric and had been a co-owner of Community Hardware, Pandora.
He was a member of St. John Mennonite Church, Pandora. He had a love of music and sang in the church choir, the Bluffton Choral Society, the Steiner-Diller Quartet, the Master's Men Quartet, the Swiss Male Chorus and the Ruselairs.
Mr. Diller was active in many community projects include past president of the Pandora Medical Center Board. He loved to travel. He was a 1948 graduate of Pandora High School.
Survivors in addition to his wife, are son, Gordon (Jodi) Diller, Bluffton; son, John (Tam) Diller, Pandora; daughter, Marie (Aubrey) Henderson, Pandora; daughter, Kathleen (Art) Shank, Erlanger, Ky.; daughter, Joanna (Jeff) Kantner, Bluffton.
He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a brother, Donavin (June) Diller, Beatrice, Neb.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 2, at St. John Mennonite Church, Pandora. Rev. Lynn Thompson will officiate.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home, Bluffton.
Burial is at Ebenezer Mennonite Cemetary, Bluffton. Memorials may be made to St. John Mennonite Church, Mennonite Memorial Home or Bridge Hospice.
