Watch for flooding - Riley is on the rise
Melting snow and a weekend of rainfall is rising the Riley. As of Sunday evening, the Little Riley was beginning to flood the old baseball diamond below the library.
The Big Riley had very swift moving water and also continued to rise.
While all this causes concern in Bluffton, the communities of Ottawa and Findlay are also watching the rising waters of the Blanchard.
Blanchard River in Ottawa has already surpassed the action stage of 20 feet, with a reading of 20.52 feet at noon on Saturday The river could crest at 23.6 feet at 7 a.m. Tuesday. Flood stage is 23 feet, where lowland flooding occurs mainly in south Ottawa. Flood water also gets into low farmlands.
The Blanchard River at Findlay is expected to crest just about flood level, at 11.6 feet at 7 p.m. Sunday. Flood stage is 11 feet there.
