Private funeral services for Walter Marshall, former BHS principal
Former Bluffton High School principal Walter Leonard “Bud” Marshall, 78, of Three Rivers, Michigan, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
He was born in Lima to James Walter and Thelma Brown Marshall. Walter was a 1952 graduate of Shawnee High School and a 1957 graduate of Ohio Northern University. He earned a Masters degree of Education from Indiana University. He was a member of Sigma Phi fraternity.
He was a teacher and coach at Celina and Shawnee High Schools. He then went on to be a principal at Bluffton, Wapakoneta, Perry and Fostoria High Schools. He spent 49 years in the field of education. He was principal at BHS in the late 1960s.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Keenan Marshall of Three Rivers, and four children, Jennifer (Mike) Havens, Janice Hayes (fiancé Kent Fowler) and Jeffrey (Beverly) Marshall, all of the Columbus area and Jill (James) Westbrook of Williston, FL.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Foster son, Sherman Randal Jacobs is deceased. His sister Marge Bassitt of Findlay survives as does his former wife Carolyn Loyer Michael of Lima, brother-in-law Michael Keenan of Scottsville, Mich., and sister-in-law Wanda Keenan Forman of Solana Beach, Calif.
His body was donated for research at OSU. A private family memorial service was held.
