Betty Jean Sommers was a retire LPN
Betty Jean Sommers, 87, died at 4:54 p.m. Feb. 2, 2013 at Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora. She was born Aug. 4, 1925 in Union Township, Hancock County to the late Scott and Emma May (Burkholder) Edinger. On Sept. 4, 1948 she married Wesley Sommers and he died May 21, 2009.
Betty was an LPN retiring from Bluffton Hospital. She was a member of the First Mennonite Church, Bluffton.
Survivors include five sons Bruce (Elaine) Sommers of Delphos, John (Elaine) Sommers of Bluffton, Phillip (Daisy) Sommers of Titusville, Florida, Kevin (Beth) Sommers of Harrod, Mark (Cheryl) Sommers of Bluffton; 10 grandchildren Nathan, Jessica, Brittany, Aaron, Megan, Danny (Maegan) Sommers, Jackie (Michael) Sylvester, Shawn (Natalie) Sommers, Chris (Sara) Sommers, Gerard (Arielle) Lopez; and 11 great grandchildren Wesley, Matthew, Blake, Brody, Colt, Carli, Jace, Jonah, Armani and Emmy Rae.
A grandson Ryan Sommers, six brothers Howard, Robert, Ralph, Harry, Norman, and Donald Edinger; and two sisters Opal Hoffer and Dorothy Bell preceded Betty in death.
Services will be 11a.m. Tuesday at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton. Rev. Louise Wideman officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton. Friends and family may call Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Mennonite Church.
