If they could be any animal for one day you'd see a white shark, cheetah, small dog and a western diamondback rattlesnake
This week The Icon talks with four more Bluffton third graders. They are Landyn Fleharty (Mrs. Raeburn’s class), Ethan Bogart (Mr. Armstrong’s class), Maeve Donaldson (Mrs. Bogart’s class), and Caleb Mckenzie (Mrs. Kingsley’s class).
If you could invent a new color, what would like look like and what you would name it?
(Long pause)
Caleb: I’ve made most colors. I’d make this one brown and tan-ish and call it desert dust.
Maeve: Yellow and green and call it yeen.
Landyn: Light blue and blue and call it blue jazz.
Ethan: Red and blue mix and call it burr.
If you could be any animal for one day, what animal would you like to be?
Landyn: A white shark.
Ethan: A little terrier.
Maeve: A cheetah. I’d run fast.
Caleb: A western diamondback rattlesnake.
Can you describe how large the universe is?
Caleb: It’s endless. There would be no end to it.
Landyn: It would take up all the rulers (yardsticks) in the world to measure.
Ethan: Maybe like triple all the planets found or quadruple.
Maeve: Billions of skyscrapers.
What’s your favorite book?
Landyn: Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The Last Straw. It’s funny.
Ethan: The Third Wheel. I got it at the book fair. It’s the newest one.
Maeve: The Bailey School Kids. They figure out a lot of mysteries about people in school.
Caleb: Harry Potter. The fifth book.
How long can you hold your breath?
(Everyone tried)
Landyn: 15 or 20 seconds.
Ethan: 15 seconds.
Caleb: 40 seconds.
Maeve: 20 seconds.
What’s your favorite subject in school?
All: Gym, mentioning dodge ball, basketball, catch the flag, soccer and zombie tag.
What’s zombie tag?
Landyn: One person is it and every time that person tags someone the person tagged has to crawl around and tag other people.
Okay, after gym, what’s your favorite subject?
Landyn: Art. I like to make textures and stuff.
Ethan: Art. I make things and never draw a lot at home. I do it at school.
Maeve: Library. I get books and read them.
Caleb: Science. I like experiments. We did a mealworm experiment and watched them until they went to beetles.
Maeve: Mine didn’t die. I put them in the backyard.
What’s your favorite movie?
Landyn: Let’s see, Aliens in the Attic. I watched it three times. It’s funny.
Ethan: hmmmm, I like The Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie. It’s funny.
Maeve: Enchanted. I’ve watched it three or four times.
Caleb: 13 Ghosts.
If you opened a restaurant what would you call it and what would it serve?
Ethan: Bogart’s Pizza.
Landyn: Roadrunner’s Pizza.
Maeve: I think The Big Pizza.
Caleb: The Big Doughnut. It would have doughnuts and ice cream.
What would you like to be when you grow up?
Landyn: A rescue swimmer.
Ethan: After I’d be a professional baseball player for the Reds, I’d work at Ford and design cars and put them together.
Maeve: A dentist. It would be fun.
Caleb: A scientist who studies mushrooms. I’d make different kinds.
Thank you for all your interesting answers. You may return to your class.
