Police log for January
Sgt. Matt Oglesbee of the Bluffton Police Department provided the Icon with the police docket for January.
Jan. 3
-Police responded to a non-injury traffic crash in the 100 block of W Riley St.. Frank Stawowy, 64, Bluffton was issued a citation for Improper Starting and Backing. The case is pending in Bluffton Mayor’s Court.
Jan. 4
-Police responded to a W. Riley St. residence in response to a Civil Protection Order Violation.
Jan. 5
-Police responded to a non-injury traffic crash at the intersection of Jefferson and Huber Streets. Carmen Luginbuhl, 41, Bluffton was issued a citation for Reasonable Control and the case is pending in Bluffton Mayor’s Court.
Jan. 6
-Officers responded to a hit-skip traffic crash at 115 E. College Ave..
-Police responded to a Riley St. residence in response to a fight in progress. Upon arrival the parties had separated and left the area and no action was taken.
-A citizens parkway business filed a shoplifting complaint. After a short investigation the case was sent to the Hancock County Prosecutors Office for review.
Jan. 10
-Officers responded to Bluffton University in response to a subject that was having a mental health crisis.
Jan. 13
-A Vance St. resident filed a complaint after falling on ice on a public sidewalk.
Jan. 14
-Police responded to the 200 block of N. Lawn Ave in response to a complaint of a dog bite.
-Officers responded to the 100 block of S. Spring St. in response to a complaint of Domestic Violence.
Jan. 19
-Police responded to a non-injury traffic crash in the 100 block of N. Main St.. Mallory Lynn, 59, Lima was cited for Improper Starting and Backing and the case is pending in Bluffton Mayor’s Court.
Jan. 20
-Police responded to a N. Main St. business in response to a complaint of someone drinking alcohol underage at the business. Officers arrested Johanna Bondra, 20, Highland Heights, was arrested for Underage Consumption and the case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.
-Officers were called to the Bluffton High School in response to a Menacing Complaint.
-Police responded to an E. Elm St. residence in response to alleged threatening statements that were posted on Facebook.
Jan. 21
-Officers responded to the intersection of Jackson and Elm Streets in response to a non-injury traffic crash. Kent Willson, 50, Jenera was cited for Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device. The case is pending in Bluffton Mayor’s Court.
-An E. College Ave. resident reported that someone was trying to extort money from him following an online relationship.
Jan. 22
-Police responded to a non-injury traffic crash in the 100 Block of E. Elm St.. Mildred Fritchie, 91, Bluffton was cited for Reasonable Control. The case is pending in Bluffton Mayor’s Court. -Officers assisted the Hancock County Sheriff’s office with a pursuit that was SB on I-75. Bluffton officers were able to deploy stop sticks to effectively deflate the tires on the vehicle bring the pursuit to an end near mile marker 140.
Jan. 23
-A Bentley Rd resident reported that her ex-husband shut her foot in her car door following an argument.
Jan. 28
-Police were called to the High School in response to a complaint of a vehicle being stolen from the parking lot. It was later determined that the owner of the vehicle came to the lot and picked it up.
-Police responded to a College Ave. Residence in response to a theft complaint.
Jan. 29
-Officers responded to Bluffton University in response to a report of an active fight. Upon arrival it was determined that there had only been a verbal argument.
Jan. 3
-A non-injury traffic crash was reported at the intersection of Bentley and Harmon Rd. Linda Owens, 51, Van Wert was cited for ACDA and the case is pending in Bluffton Mayor’s Court
Jan. 31
-Police towed a car that had been left in the roadway on SR 103 causing a traffic hazard.
