Hilty Home’s major improvement projects “Keeping it Local”
Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora, an affiliate of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO), recently completed a project involving the replacement of its walk-in cooler and freezer.
The new $35,000 unit was custom made for Hilty Home by US Cooler, Quincy, Ill. The new unit features a sloped roof versus a flat roof that the prior unit had. This will enable the water to flow off the top as opposed to standing, thus increasing the life of the unit.
In addition, the new unit is also more energy efficient. Temporary refrigeration was obtained from AA Trailer, Delphos, and temporary freezer was obtained through Wright Way Food Service, Lima. The installation was completed two days faster than anticipated.
Basinger Plumbing and Heating, Pandora, was the contractor for the project. The new unit will have back up power via a new generator, which will begin at the end of April.
The $217,000 generator project includes a Cummins generator, which was purchased from County Electric, Ottawa, who will also be the installer for the project.
The new generator will provide backup coverage to the entire building during power outages as opposed to the generator being replaced, which only powered pre-designated areas of the building.
The new generator will have improved sound reduction barrier, which will reduce the noise level while running for those living close to it. After installation of the new generator is complete, the current generator is being donated to Pandora Medical Center, which neighbors Hilty Home.
