William Hauenstein worked at Lima Ford Engine Plant for 47 years
William Hauenstein, 88 died August 16, 2013 at Richland Manor Nursing Home, Bluffton.
He was born April 1, 1925 in Ada to the late Clyde and Mary (Sutter) Hauenstein.
On March 28, 1948 he married Betty Ewing and she died August 27, 2001. He later married Rosie Smith on June 28, 2002 and she survives.
William retired from Lima Ford Engine Plant in 2005 after 47 years. He was a member of the International Threshers Association, National Rifle Association, VFW Post 1275, Amvets, and the Lima Moose. He was a Army Air Corps World War II veteran.
Survivors also include six sons William (Marilyn) Hauenstein II of Ludington, MI, David (Beth) Hauenstein of Bluffton, Ronald Hauenstein of Harrod, Donald Hauenstein of Columbus Grove, Duane (Melanie) Hauenstein of Bluffton, Jim (Sally) Hauenstein of Lima; four daughters Pam Taylor of Beaverdam, Rachel (Jerry) Lambert of Wapakoneta, Joyce Ann Reed of Boonville, KY, Pamela (Marv) Goldstein of Cleveland; twenty grandchildren; forty great grandchildren; sister in law Joyce Hauenstein of Bluffton; two brothers Earl Dean (Dora) Hauenstein of Lima; Dwight (Lucille) Hauenstein of Indian Lake; sister Dolores Hanlin of Lima; eleven step grandchildren; twenty-one step great grandchildren eleven step great great grandchildren; and three step sons Gary (Janet) Swallow of Lima, Mike (Stephanie) Swallow of Lima; Jim (Donna) Swallow of Port Charlotte, FL.
He was preceded in death by a daughter in law Marlene Hauenstein; one grandchild; sister June Ericson; and a brother Richard Hauenstein.
Services will be Tuesday, August 20, at 11 a.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton. Pastor Sam Wireman officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
Visitation will be Monday from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Beaverdam-Richland Fire Department or Richland Manor Nursing Home.
