Phyllis Suter was retired from teaching at Pandora-Gilboa
Phyllis M. Suter, 88, died Aug. 22, 2013 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. She was born Nov. 1, 1924 in Berne, Ind.. to the late Albert and Elma (Welty) Sprunger. On June 18, 1950, she married Dwight Suter and he died March 7, 1997.
Mrs. Suter was an English and special education teacher for Pandora-Gilboa Schools. She was a member of Grace Mennonite Church, Pandora. She was a graduate of Berne High School and Goshen College.
Survivors include two daughters Martha (John) Martens of Middlebury, Ind., Joanna Suter of Columbus, Ohio; two sons Robert L. (Joyce) Suter of Pandora; William (Donna) Suter of Pandora; five grandchildren; a brother Orlando Sprunger of Berne, Ind.; and a sister Marguerite Wiebe of Visalia, California.
She was preceded in death by three sisters Lucretia Sprunger, Celia Hilty and Winifred Gerber.
A Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Mennonite Church, Pandora. Rev. Dennis Schmidt officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 pm at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary (AMBS), or Grace Mennonite Church.
