BFR Sports and Fitness invites Icon viewers to participate in its Saturday, Aug. 31, Labor Day Weekend 5K or Walk, which featuring a Pump and Run.

Details
• The 5K run/walk (including pump and runners) starts 9:15 a.m.
• The fun run/walk starts at 10 a.m.
• Race day check for the 5K pump and run starts at 7:45 a.m.
• Race day check in for the 5K run and walk sis from 8:30 to 9 a.m.
• Race day check in for fun run starts at 8:30 a.m.

The 5K course will start at BFR and follow a street course through Bluffton and end at the Buckeye Park. The Fun Run course will take place on the path around the Buckeye Lake. 
Awards will be given to the top male and female finisher of each age group. Special ribbons will be distributed to first time 5K participants. Registration is open until race day for a cost of $20 (no shirt included); register by Aug. 24 with a fee of $15 (or $20 including a Race shirt). Participants in the Fun Run will pay $10.

The Pump and Run Challenge combines a running event with weight lifting. Participants start the day with a bench press competition in the BFR Fitness Center and then follow with the 5K run.

Based on the number of completed “pumps” the runner’s time is adjusted. Awards will be given out to the top male and female Pump & Run participant. There is no extra fee to participate in the Pump and Run Challenge; participants will pay the regular 5k fees.
