The Bluffton Beaver women's soccer team traveled to Circleville, Ohio, to take on the Ohio Christian University Trailblazers on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013. The Beavers were able to play extremely well in all facets of the game while posting a 6-0 victory and improving to 2-1 this season.
The scoring began in the eighth minute, as freshman Kristen Tropf (Findlay/Van Buren) scored her third goal of the season to give the Beavers a 1-0 lead. Senior Jessica Ramirez (Archbold) added a tally just 10 minutes later with some help from fellow senior Megan Moreo (Spencerville/Delphos Jefferson) to extend the lead to 2-0. Junior Danielle McQuillin (Delta/Pike-Delta-York) would round out the first half scoring when she fired one home in the 42nd minute, giving the Beavers a 3-0 lead heading to the locker room.
Bluffton would continue to pour on the goals during the second half as Tropf again led off the scoring with her second goal of the match which pushed the lead to 4-0 in the 67th minute. Just five minutes later Moreo picked up her second point of the afternoon with a goal of her own, this one assisted by senior Elizabeth Webb (Ashland). Senior Aimee Whitmer (Grand Rapids/Otsego) capped off the match with her third score of the season in the 86th minute.
The visitors were able to outshoot the Trailblazers 13-5 in the victory. Senior goalkeeper Maggie Armstrong (Vevay, Ind./Switzerland Cty.) earned her second straight shutout in the net with two saves.
The Beavers will hit the road once again this coming Saturday, Sept. 14, as they head to Caledonia Township, Michigan to take on the Davenport University Panthers with a noon start. Live video is available on the Panthers' website.
