Some great fishing stories: Over 135 adults and youth in Maple Crest fishing derby
Over 135 adults and youth participated in a fishing derby at Maple Crest Senior Living Community, Bluffton, during Bluffton’s Fall Festival in late September.
Prizes for the derby went to:
• First guest out fishing – Karson Hauenstein
• First person to catch a fish – Connor McKean
• Persons wearing a “cool” hat – Linda Strahm (sequined black cap) and Gene Grieser (hat from Alice Springs, Central Australia)
• Persons wearing pretty outfits to the Derby: Keyrsten Kleman (pink T-shirts with matching pink sandals) and Ellie Hoffman (ruffled skirt with matching purple sandals).
• Maple Crest resident who brought the most guests – Jo Ann Hilty (29)
• Person who came the farthest – Benjamin Hilty from Cinncinati, Ohio
• Person who caught the longest fish – Melina Meza (24 3/8 in.)
• Person who caught the 2nd longest fish – Daniel Siders (23 1/2 in.)
• Person who caught the 3rd longest fish – Xavier White (13 3/8 in.)
• Person who caught the shortest fish – Eli Lemley (3 1/4 in.)
• Person who caught the 2nd shortest fish – Karlie Lora (4 in.)
• Person who caught the 3rd shortest fish –Kenny Lovett (4 ½ in.)
• Person who caught the most fish -- Kaden Lora tied with Braydon McClure with 4 fish each
• Person who caught the 2nd most fish – Five-way tie with 3 fish each:
Abbie Lemley, Karlie Lora, Danielle Novak, Kaelyn Rettig, and Sami Rettig
