Nashville band The Rough and Tumble perform on town hall stage Oct. 26
The Nashville band, The Rough and Tumble, performs on the Bluffton Town Hall Concert Series at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 26, according to Wendy Chappell-Dick.
The Rough & Tumble, consisting of Mallory Graham and Scott Tyler, describe themselves as “two scarecrows in a cornfield, two pairs of hands stealing the same piece of candy, a dust devil that traveled seven states to get to you only to make you cry… The Rough & Tumble are here to lock eyes with you in a crowded room, smile and wink at you.”
In 2013, the duo started a year-long project, “The Rough & Tumble’s Holiday Awareness Campaign” in which they write, record and release two songs a month based around specific holidays in order to make the masses aware of all the celebration days they have neglected and also of the great sadness that accompanies great joy.
Reviewer Eric Sandy writes: “The Rough & Tumble have a really great thing going for them. EPs like For You, Now That You’re Married...And For Me, Too offer glimpses into the duo’s sunny-yet-reflective moods.
"Dig the harmonies struck by both artists’ voices on “Not Polite,” an emotion-tinged tune built on the back of a meandering melody on an acoustic guitar. In particular, the way Graham’s voice wavers and cracks at times helps add the flourishes that take the Rough & Tumble’s stuff from good to great."
Chappell-Dick says: ”The Bluffton Town Hall Concert Series prides ourselves in finding the best regional and touring musicians northwest Ohio has to offer. It brings together a rare collection of multi-cultural, folk and other genres that are hard to find in public settings elsewhere."
This series of monthly concerts is a volunteer run, nonprofit project. All donations at the door go toward paying the musician or band their regular fee.
