Martin Burkholder 1921-2010
Martin Darrel Burkholder, 88, of Lima, died at 9:18 a.m., April 5, 2010, at Lima Memorial Hospital, Lima. He was born July 29, 1921, in Beaverdam, to Cyrus and Stella (Hilty) Burkholder.
He was a farmer and retired from Shellar Globe, Lima. He attended Ebenezer Mennonite Church and graduated from Beaverdam High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
On April 20, 1947, he married Irene Snider and she survives. Also surviving are daughters, Pamela (Gregory) Bowsher, Waynesfield; Jayne (J.J.) Kaiser, Columbia, Md., and a son, Gary (fiance Kathy Johnston), Etna; granddaughters Cynthia (Troy) Blubaugh and Juliana Kaiser; a grandson, Ben (Stephanie) Bowsher; grandchildren Andrew and Ashley Nelson; and a great-grandson Dylan Blubaugh.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kent Burkholder.
A funeral service is at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 8, at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home, Bluffton. Rev. Charles Warren will officiate.
Visitation is Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Chiles-Laman, Bluffton. Burial is in Hasson Cemetery, Van Buren-Orange Township. In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to American Cancer Society.
