Alycia Althaus clarinet recital April 25
Alycia Althaus, a clarinetist from Findlay, will perform her Bluffton University senior recital at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 25, in Yoder Recital Hall on the Bluffton campus. The recital is free and open to the public. A reception will follow in the lobby.
A student of Dr. Adam Schattschneider, professor of music, Althaus will present five pieces, including "Concerto for Clarinet, K. 622" by Mozart; "Sonata in F minor, Op. 120, No. 1" by Brahms; "Sonata for Clarinet" by Paul Hindemith; and "Arabesques" by Paul Jeanjean.
She will also perform Schubert's "Der Hirt auf dem Felsen, D. 965," written for clarinet, voice and piano. Joining her will be soprano Sarah Diller, a Bluffton junior. "This is probably my favorite piece on the program," Althaus says. "It has been a new and very enjoyable experience to collaborate musically with Sarah."
Anna Stembler-Smith, piano instructor at the university, will accompany Althaus. The recital is presented in partial fulfillment of requirements for graduation with a major in music education at Bluffton.
