School board will act on renewal of five-year levy on Monday
Bluffton school board will act upon a renewal of a five-year tax levy during its December meeting on Monday.
The five-year levy was first passed in 1999, renewed in 2004 and again in 2009. The board anticipates it being placed on the May 6, 2014 ballot.
According to the resolution considered by the board on Monday:
"pursuant to the provisions of Section 5705.194 of the Ohio Revised Code, it is necessary that a renewal tax together with an increase be levied in excess of the 10-mill limitation for the benefit of this school district, for the purpose of providing funds for current operating expenses, in order to avoid an operation deficit, in the amount of $714,392 each year for a five year period, which is a renewal of $466,000 and an increase of $248,392 per year."
Monday's board agenda is in an attachment at the bottom of this story.
