Geneva Powell 1920-2014
Geneva Powell, 93, of Pandora died Jan. 22, 2014, at 7 a.m. at the Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora. She was born Dec. 7, 1920, in Beech Grove, Tenn., to the late John and Myrtle Hatmaker Bennett. In 1941 she married Johnnie Powell who preceded her in death on Jan. 26, 1981.
She was a homemaker. She was raised in the Baptist Church.
Survivors include three children, Mary Schwab of Columbus Grove, Larry "Mike" Powell of Pandora, Beverly Phillips of Findlay, seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren, a brother, Harry (Joyce) Bennett of Nashville, Tenn., and a sister, Joan (J.E.) Bobo of Collinsville, Ala. She was preceded in death by three brothers, John Bennett, James Bennett, Hugh Bennett, two sisters, Mabel Gross, Betty Traffanstedt, a grandchild and a son-in-law, Richard Schwab.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Bluffton. Rev. Rick Hart will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Pandora.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hancock County United Way 2-11. Online condolences may be expressed at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
