Bluffton University opens national search for head football coach; Veidt going to Toledo
A national search is underway for the next head football coach at Bluffton University. Tyson Veidt, the head coach since 2008, has accepted the position of linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Toledo.
“Coach Veidt built a strong foundation for our football program and has made a difference in the lives of many of our student-athletes,” said Phill Talavinia, athletics director. “We wish him all the best on his move to a Division I program.”
Associate head coach Lou Stokes will provide leadership to the football program during this time of transition. Coach Stokes, who served for 18 seasons before taking a two-year break, returned to the football program six seasons ago to work with the offensive line and serve as the team's director of academic success and associate head coach. Stokes' coaching experience includes head coaching roles at Ottawa-Glandorf and Bucyrus high schools and as a coordinator at Celina High School.
“Bluffton football has made significant gains in the last few years under Coach Veidt, and Lou’s long history with our program is just what we need to keep the program’s momentum going,” said Talavinia. “He knows and respects our current student-athletes, and his loyalty to Bluffton and our programs is appreciated during this time of transition.”
