"Music Together" classes offered this spring; free demo class on Saturday
A series of “Music Together” classes for infants through age five are offered this spring by Laura Hartzler. Classes are held weekly for eight weeks beginning April 7 in First Mennonite Church (no classes Memorial Day). Classes are held Mondays from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m.
Parents interested in learning more about the classes may attend a free demonstration class at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, April 5, at the church. The demo class enables parents and anyone interested to experience a class and ask questions.
Music Together involves music and movement classes for its participants.
“All Music Together classes are mixed-age classes,” said Hartzler. “This allows families with children birth through kindergarten to attend together. The mix-ages provide a family-style atmosphere where each child is free to explore and play at his own developmental level, without comparison or competition.”
Hartzler is a registered Music Together teacher. She has completed more than 28 hours of training and has been approved by the Center for Music and Young Children in Princeton, N.J.
“Teachers are trained to help adults understand how to interact and play musically with their child in the class and at home,” she said.
In addition to serving as a Music Together teacher, Hartzler is a music teacher at Bath Schools. She holds a bachelor’s degree in music from Bluffton University and a master’s in early childhood education from the University of Findlay.
For information about the Saturday free demo class and to register for classes contact Hartzler at 419-302-0607, or at [email protected]. Families may also register at www.musictogetherfindlay.com.
