Gene Stuckey was former operations manager of Hancock County Fair
Gene A. Stuckey, 72, of Delaware Twp., Hancock County, Ohio, died at 4:36 a.m.
on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 9, 1941 to the late Dale S. and A. Marie (Lane) Stuckey in Delaware Twp. On Sept. 2, 1960, he married Connie J. Smith and she survives.
He is also survived by a son, Greg A. (Melissa) Stuckey of Delaware Twp.; a sister, LuAnn Stuckey of Bluffton; granddaughter, Kimberly A. (Ray) Henley of Findlay; three great-grandchildren: Danika Lynne, Jesika Lynne and Emma Jean Lousie Henley; and sister-in-law, Sharon (Stuckey) MacKenzie of Bluffton. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald D. Stuckey.
He was a 1959 graduate of Mt. Blanchard High School. He was a lifelong farmer and lifelong resident of Delaware Township. He was a 4-H Club member and advisor, a past Riverdale school board member and a Life Member of the National Rifle Association. He was a Hancock County Fair board member from 1981-2004, in which he served as an operations manager and secretary/ treasurer.
He was very instrumental in starting and organizing the Mt. Blanchard, Wharton, and Forest History Room at Riverdale High School. He was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Delaware Twp.
Funeral services are at Crates Funeral Home, Arlington, at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 21, 2014. Chaplain Elizabeth Kelly will officiate and burial will follow in the Riverview Addition to the Krout Cemetery Association, Mt. Blanchard.
