Isaac Schumacher in Iceland cross-cultural experience
Isaac Schumacher, son of Tim and Janet Schumacher of Bluffton, is participating in a cross-cultural experience in Iceland, May 6-21.
He and other Bluffton students will explore the political history of Iceland, an island nation that has no standing army and does not take sides in international disputes. They will also learn about emerging energy technologies such as geothermal and hydropower. Participants will also visit Höfoi House, where a summit meeting between Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev was held in 1986.
Schumacher is a junior at Bluffton, where he is majoring in graphic design with a minor in art.
This experience will fulfill Bluffton’s undergraduate cross-cultural requirement that must be completed before graduation. Students can either complete a cross-cultural experience or take six credit hours in one foreign language.
