Tennis camp for beginners June 9-11 at BFR
Youth entering grades 2-7 can learn the basic skills of tennis through a three-day camp at BFR Sports & Fitness, according to Carole Enneking, director. Camp dates are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, June 9-11.
The camp sessions will be held indoors at BFR from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. Students with little or no prior instruction will learn the basic forehand, backhand and overhead strokes.
The camp will also introduce serving. In addition to stroke instruction, the campers will work on eye-hand coordination, agility and court positioning. Cost for the camp is $45 ($30 BFR member) and registration can be made over the phone (419-358-4150).
Tennis lessons will be offered for six weeks beginning the week of June 16. The beginner group will meet from 2-2:45 p.m. on Mondays; intermediate and advanced youth classes will be offered as well. BFR has been offering tennis instruction for eight years; Phil Newland is the teaching professional on staff.
For more information about the tennis program, contact BFR by calling 419-358-4150 or visit the center located at 215 Snider Road in Bluffton.
