Lots of sports camps starting at BFR
In mid-June BFR begins sport programs and camps, including tennis, basketball, t-ball, volleyball, field hockey and soccer. A family scavenger hunt and pre-school adventure camp are also scheduled.
June 16 is the start date for summer tennis lessons at BFR. Youth entering grade 2 or above are invited to register for the 6 week lesson package. Tennis groups are assigned based on skill levels; classes meet on Monday, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Cost varies depending on the level ($55-70).
Youth ages 5-8 years are encouraged to participate in the Rookie Sport Camp to be held June 16, 17 and 18 at BFR. Camp will be held from 3-5 p.m. each day and campers will learn basic sport skills and play modified versions. Sports to be highlighted will include basketball, t-ball, volleyball, field hockey, tennis and soccer. There will be lots of
hand-eye and foot-eye coordination activities in a fun learning environment. Advance registration is required by calling 419-358-4150; cost is $35 ($15 BFR members).
Families are invited to participate in an outdoor scavenger hunt on Tuesday, June 17 beginning at 6 p.m. Families will meet at BFR for their first clue then head out around Bluffton to snap photos of each location. Preferred methods of transportation are on-foot or by bike. Cost is $10 per family. Registration is requested.
The next Pre-school Adventure Camp is planned for Thursday, June 19. The theme of the day will be Olympic Games; activities, crafts and snacks will be included. Children ages 4-6 years are welcome for the Camp offered from 9-10:45 a.m. Cost is $12 ($8 BFR member). Additional Adventure Camps will be offered on Thursday, June 26 (Fairy Tales), Thursday, July 31 (Animals), and Thursday, Aug. 7 (Sports Sampler). Registration is required at least 2 days prior to each event.
T-ball League will begin in early July. Youth are invited to a T-ball Clinic on June 24 and 25 from 6-7 p.m. to learn more about this sport. The clinic will cover the basics of base running, fielding and hitting. Registration for the T-ball league will end on June 26 with team play beginning Tuesday, July 8. Cost for the clinic is $20 ($10 BFR) and the league fee is $40 ($20 BFR member). A registration form is required for the league; forms may be printed from the www.bfronline.com website or by stopping at the BFR facility located at 215 Snider Road, Bluffton.
