United Way feature agency of the week: BFR Sports and Fitness
BFR Sports & Fitness is proud to be a United Way Agency. BFR started as a grass-roots organization striving to keep our community active. Through the support of United Way, individuals and families with limited finances can take part in BFR programs.
The BFR facility offers the Fitness Center, indoor track, gymnasium and indoor turf-arena. Programs provided through BFR include fitness classes, youth sport programs, personal and group sport conditioning, toddler play, swim instruction, tennis lessons, and recreational sport leagues (youth and adult divisions). All BFR programs are open to the public and fees are kept as low as possible. BFR’s optional memberships offer access to the gymnasium, track and arena, plus use of the fitness center for those 14 years of age and older. In addition, BFR offers short-term track passes and family recreation pass options for use of the recreational areas of the facility (not including the Fitness Center).
According to Carole Enneking, BFR Director, “scholarship recipients have used the facility to encourage their entire family to be more active, or to attend group fitness classes, or to work on personal fitness goals, or to be able to afford program fees. In each case, BFR is thrilled to be able to offer United Way support for those in our community who might not be able to afford to participate.”
Applying for scholarship assistance is very easy and can be done any time of the year. A simple application form is required and, once submitted, recipients will be notified whether they qualify for 50%-100% financial support. Forms are available at the facility, or on the BFR website.
BFR is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to providing a variety of opportunities and services that encourage learning, fitness and fun for all ages. For more information about BFR programs, visit the center located at 215 Snider Road or visit the website www.bfronline.com.
