With the help of Allen County tax dollars, fundraisers and donations from individuals and organizations like the United Way, the Bluffton Senior Center is working to meet the needs of this growing population.
Since 1970, the Senior Center has given those 55 and older from Bluffton and the surrounding communities a place to come together to socialize, share hobbies, learn new skills, become educated on new topics and technology, entertain or be entertained, exercise body, mind and soul, and make new friends. Popular activities include dancing, exercise class, playing cards, dominos, bowling and special Bingo. Both day trips and weeklong trips are popular with members. All trips are self funded.
The Bluffton Senior Center is also well known for crafts, especially rag rugs and hand quilting. Items made and donated are sold in the small gift shop located at the center. Individuals from near and far have brought quilts to the Senior Center. Although their numbers are fewer, a group of faithful quilters still gather weekly to add stitches to the quilts.
