Student art show offers prizes at May 22 arts and crafts show
A student art show offering cash prizes is part of this year's Bluffton arts and crafts festival held Saturday, May 22. Students in pre-school through high school are eligible to enter up to two works in any media for the show, according to Fred Steiner, of the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce. Art work entered will be exhibited from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. the day of the arts and crafts show, on the Bluffton Presbyterian Church lawn. Three first place cash prizes will be awarded. A $50 Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce gift certificate will go to the first place winner in the first through fifth grade (elementary) division; the sixth through eighth grade (middle school division); and freshman through senior (high school division.)No cash prizes will be awarded to entries in the pre-kindergarten division. Entries may be dropped off from noon to 4 p.m., at the Bluffton Presbyterian Church, corner of Main and Church streets on Friday, May 21, or may be delivered to Min Lindsey, 9911 Rockport Road, Bluffton, and the show coordinator. Art pieces may also be dropped off by 9 a.m. on the morning of the show. Judging will occur at 10 a.m.. Art pieces must be picked up at 4 p.m. The show is open to students in any school district and there is no cost to enter the show.
