McFarlin named HCAC Player of the Week
BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University sophomore MacKenzie McFarlin (Ashland) was recently named the Heartland Collegiate Player of the Week on offense for her work at the Sommer Center Spiketacular over the weekend.
She led Bluffton to a 4-0 start while winning the Sommer Center Spiketacular. The standout outside hitter blistered the ball with a conference-best 56 kills (4.00/set) and just 15 errors for a .301 hitting percentage. McFarlin added seven service aces, 24 digs and two block assists for a total of 64 points.
Bluffton scored a 3-2 win over Heidelberg on Friday night, the Beavers' first victory over the Student Princes since 2000, before posting 3-0 sweeps of
Albion, Denison and Geneva. Bluffton (4-0, 0-0 HCAC) will compete at the Laroche Invitational this weekend. The Beavers open with Washington and Jefferson at 5:30 p.m. on Friday night.
