Beaver volleyball moves to 6-0 with sweeps at La Roche

PITTSBURGH, Penn. - The Beavers traveled to Pennsylvania for their first road matches on Friday, Sept. 5. The first team Bluffton faced was Washington & Jefferson. The Beavers were able to take care of the Presidents in three with set scores of 25-19, 25-10 and 25-18. Leading Bluffton at the net were junior KENDRA PARMENTER (Grove City) and sophomore MACKENZIE MCFARLIN (Ashland) with 11 kills apiece. Junior setter SARA ROTH (Findlay/Van Buren) dished out 33 assists. The Beavers were supported from the back row by SYDNEY MOHLER (Lima/Central Catholic) with a team-high 10 digs.
Directly following the match against the Presidents, the Beavers faced another Pennsylvania team, Pitt-Greensburg. Again, Bluffton defeated their opponent in three quick sets ( 25-14, 25-9 and 25-6). MacKenzie McFarlin led the team with 11 kills and Parmenter followed close behind with 10. Roth had 40 assists. Mohler and BECCA TOURNEY (Columbia City, Ind.) kept the ball off the floor with 13 and 11 digs, respectively. Weisgarber dominated the net with her blocking (two solos and two assists) and freshman LAUREN MILLER (Dayton/ Miamisburg) strung together 12 serves in the third set. The Beavers blistered the ball with a .409 hitting percentage with McFarlin and Jenny Brown (St. Marys/Memorial) at .579 and .571, respectively.
The Beavers will continue their tournament on Saturday morning against Waynesburg at 10:30 a.m.
