Eilene Mericle will receive membership to Senior Association in October; here's the month's calendar of events
The Icon challenges any community organization to schedule more events in one month that the Bluffton Senior Citizens.
Their October calendar if full and here are some of the highlights:
October’s dinner meeting is at 6 p.m., Monday, Oct. 13. Ann Boyd will present a program on “A Slice of Life,” which includes a close look at Italian herbs and their health benefits. She’ll bring samples to show.
Tickets are $7 and must be purchased by Wednesday, Oct. 8. Carolyn Green is the master of ceremonies and Mary Hofstetter and friends are the hostesses.
Eilene Swank Mericle, who celebrates her 90th birthday in October, will receive a red rose and a life membership at the dinner.
On Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 1 p.m. Deb Beer’s workshop features creating a snowman kit. The sewing women will create the bags and other members of the Center will paint the wood cutouts for the project.
The next Western square dance is at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 27. The cost is $3 for non-members and $2 for members.
The October blood pressure clinic is from 11 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Oct. 1. Cookie Cook will be the nurse taking blood pressures.
And just around the corner, members of the Center will begin their annual peanut brittle project at 8 a.m., Monday, Nov. 3.
