BLUFFTON, Ohio—A retired educator in Lima and Findlay will discuss what “having a heart for teaching” means in today’s world during a Bluffton University Forum on Tuesday, Oct. 7.

‘Andrea King, now assistant to the director of teacher education at Bluffton, will address “Teaching on the Edge: Is Having a Heart for Teaching Enough?” beginning at 11 a.m. in Founders Hall. Her presentation is free and open to the public.

King was a longtime teacher and administrator in Lima City Schools before serving six years as principal of Washington Intermediate School in Findlay. During her tenure at Washington, it was named among Ohio’s 2011-12 “Schools of Promise” by the state Department of Education.

She holds a master’s degree in elementary school counseling from Governors State University in University Park, Ill., and completed additional requirements for elementary principal licensure and assistant superintendent certification at Bowling Green State University. The Martha Holden Jennings Scholar is a board member at the Lima Public Library and the Black Heritage Library and Multicultural Center in Findlay.
