Miguel Alicea named HCAC Player of Week
BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University sophomore Miguel Alicea (Westerville/South) helped the Beavers seal a 31-17 win at Rose-Hulman Saturday with a late touchdown and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Player of the Week on defense. It marks the third time this season Bluffton has had a Player of the Week following Jordan Watkins (Reynoldsburg) and Brad Swavel (Marion/Ridgedale).
The sophomore defensive back came up with three tackles, a game-high four pass breakups, and an interception in the road win over the Engineers. Alicea returned the interception 47 yards to the house late in the third quarter, giving the Beavers a 31-17 advantage. His work in the secondary helped the Beavers hold Rose's No. 1 rated offense and passing attack to nearly 300 yards under their season average.
Bluffton (2-3, 2-1 HCAC) will travel to Earlham College for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff on Saturday.
