Shirley and Keith Sommer celebrated 45th anniversary
Keith and Shirley Sommer of rural Pandora, celebrated 45 years of marriage with their family on November 1. They met while doing voluntary service at Camp Friedenswald, Cassopolis, Mich. They were married at Shirley's home church of Eicher Emmanuel Mennonite Church in rural Wayland, IA.
They enjoy being retired and semi-retired, going on various trips with the Bluffton Senior Citizens, as well as visiting family around the country. Keith is the curator for the Swiss Historical Society, doing locksmithing in the Bluffton and Pandora areas and at Camp Friedenswald, and blacksmithing as a hobby. Shirley is employed part-time at the Bluffton Senior Citizens, and volunteers at Et Cetera Shop and Ten Thousand Villages.
They are the parents of Christian (Melissa), Columbus, and Heidi (Joe) Sommer Simones. They have three grandchildren: Ava Sommer, and Eli and Wyatt Sommer Simones.
