The story of Bluffton PO Box 102
When Tom Benroth retired recently he vacated his storied Bluffton PO box 102. It is now up for rent and if there's a highest bidder the U.S. Postal Service may end in the black this year. For 35 years Benroth's morning mail routine was legendary. He kept the PO box 102 key on the post office narrow lobby ledge above the boxes so that he'd never lose it. Once, upon returning from a one-week vacation we witnessed him reach for the key and it was missing. Turns out he left the key in the PO box lock all weeklong. Nobody touched it. As of Jan. 21 the famous box was still vacant.
