The Bluffton Scrap Artists recently applied for and were selected to receive a $500 grant from Ohio Quilts.

The grant will help cover the costs associated with making soldier quilts for wounded men and women in the U.S. armed forces. There will be an open sew day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, in the Patio Room at Maple Crest Senior Living Center.

Interested quilters are welcome to attend this day of quilt making. Participants will be offered a light carry-in lunch and may come and go as they desire; quilters may work for several hours or all day. Quilters are asked to bring their own sewing machines.

The finished quilts will be delivered to Fort Hood, Texas later this year. This is an ongoing service project of the local quilt club.
