BFR teams up with Public Library for summer fundraiser
A Bluffton Family Recreation (BFR) membership will serve as the grand prize for Bluffton Public Library's "Make a Splash" summer fundraiser. The fundraiser will coincide with the 2010 summer reading program and conclude with the library's 75th anniversary celebration in September.
Beginning June 7, adult cardholders may "adopt" (check-out) a coin can and save spare change as a family this summer. An additional can may be adopted when a full can is returned, while supplies last.
Prizes will also be awarded for the first full can returned and best decorated can (featuring a 75th anniversary theme). All cans will be due Aug. 20 so that patrons may vote for their favorite decorated can on display in the library during September.
The grand prize, an annual BFR membership, will be awarded for the most money raised, per program guidelines. "The partnership between the library and BFR reinforces the importance of exercise, physical and mental. Both organizations take very seriously their mission of serving the public," BFR Executive Director Carole Enneking said.
"Small change can add up fast to make a big difference," library director Cindi Chasse said. "With a challenging $5,000 'Buck$ for Book$' goal to meet this year, every coin counts." The library, with the support of the Friends of the Library and the generosity of community members, has raised approximately $2,300 towards its goal since last December.
