Bob Inniger is one of seven persons and two national championship teams to join the Hancock County Sports Hall of Fame during the organization’s 31st annual banquet and induction. 

Inniger is vice president, business banking officer for Citizens National Bank. He is also treasurer of the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce. He is an Arlington High School and University of Findlay two-sport athlete.

The event is at 6 p.m., Saturday, April 11, at the Owens Community College, Findlay campus Wellness and Education Center.

Along with Inniger, members of the Class of 2015 include:
• Former Liberty-Benton girls basketball coach Dennis Rissler
• Arlington quarterback Doug Freed
• McComb linebacker Alan Baumlei
• McComb grad and college softball coach Julie Lenhart
• Former UF quarterback Bo Hurley and,
• Standout Arcadia track athlete Miriam Boes

The University of Findlay’s 1995 and 1997 NAIA national champion football teams coached by Dick Strahm will also be inducted at the banquet.

Inniger earned numerous honors for his play on football and baseball fields for both Arlington High School and Findlay College.

During his three years as quarterback and a safety on the Arlington football team, Inniger helped the Red Devils compile a 26-2-2 record.

His high school career culminated in 1976 with a 10-0 season, Blanchard Valley Conference and United Press International state titles, first-team all-BVC recognition at both positions and a spot on the all-Ohio defensive third team.

In addition, in baseball, he was a first-team all-BVC player for three years and, in basketball, a second-team all-conference choice as a senior. He lettered all four years in baseball and three years in basketball.

At Findlay College, Inniger was a safety on the 1979 NAIA national championship team. He was a first-team NAIA District pick the following season, when he also earned NAIA All-American honorable mention and All-Hoosier-Buckeye Collegiate Conference honors.

A pitcher and second baseman on the Oilers’ baseball team, he led the Hoosier-Buckeye Collegiate Conference with a 1.64 earned run average in 1979.
