James Edie was a 1963 Bluffton High School graduate
James E. Edie of Pandora, Ohio, died March 24, 2015, at the James Cancer Hospital in Columbus.
He was the son of Don C. and Betty J. (Weber) Edie both of whom are deceased. He is survived by a son, James Paul Edie of Clyde; two grandchildren, Kayla A. Edie of Wauseon and Elijah J. Edie of New Bremen.
He is also survived by his companion Joyce Lynch of Tiffin, his former spouse, Pauline Kinsinger Edie Watts of Lima and sisters: Bonnie L. Bruhn of Indianapolis, Ind., and Sandra K. (Duane) Nusbaum of Southern Pines, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Caitlin M. Edie.
After graduating from Bluffton High School in 1963 he worked as a mechanic at Bixel Ford, Bluffton.
He served in Viet Nam with the 1st of the 5th U.S. Army Infantry. Following his discharge from the service he became an owner-operator truck driver contracted to North American Van Lines new products division. He received NAVL's highest honor of one million miles accident free. He was close to achieving his two million mile accident free award, but chose to spend more time with his family and sold his truck. He worked at Whirlpool in Findlay from where he retired.
He was a volunteer for the Hancock County Meals on Wheels delivering meals to shutins throughout Hancock County.
Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay, handled the arrangements.
His funeral was Saturday, March 28, with Father Tony Fortman as celebrant.
Internment was in Riverview Cemetery Kraut Addition in Mt. Blanchard with full military rites conducted by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
