Hickey named HCAC Hitter of the Week

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Sophomore Luke Hickey (Toledo/Whitmer) capped a superb week by being named the Heartland Conference Hitter of the Week after leading the Beavers to a 3-1 mark in HCAC action. He is the first Bluffton player to be named the HCAC Hitter of the Week since all-time leading hitter Kyle Niermann collected the honor in 2013.
Hickey went 9-of-21 (.429) at the plate with one homer, two triples and two doubles for an .857 slugging percentage. He drove in six runs from is leadoff spot and scored seven times with an OBP of .455 for the week. Hickey is currently fourth in the HCAC with a sterling .424 batting average while his 29 runs scored is far and away tops in the conference. His 10 doubles and 36 hits are also the best in the HCAC.
He has helped the Beavers to a 6-1 start in the Heartland Conference, the best start in Bluffton baseball history.
The Beavers jump back into action on Tuesday, March 31 as they return to Memorial Field to take on the rival Defiance College Yellow Jackets for the second straight week. First pitch is slated for 4:15 p.m. Come support your Beavers!
